Code of Conduct

A community built on craft, deserves conversation built on respect.

Every article, comment, and reply published on this site is read by real people, from first-time visitors to long-time collectors. This Code of Conduct sets out what we expect from anyone taking part in that conversation, and what happens when those expectations are not met.

It applies wherever people interact through Isoratif: article comments on Publications, replies and threads, and any direct correspondence with our team through the channels listed below.

We hold conversation to the same standard as craftsmanship, considered, honest, and made to last.
Our Pledge

In the interest of an open, welcoming space.

We pledge to make participation in our community a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of age, body size, visible or invisible disability, ethnicity, sex characteristics, gender identity and expression, level of experience, education, socio-economic status, nationality, personal appearance, race, religion, or sexual identity and orientation.
We pledge to act and interact in ways that contribute to an open, welcoming, diverse, inclusive, and healthy community, whether you arrive as a customer, a collector, a first-time reader, or a guest leaving a single comment.

Our Standards

What we welcome, and what we will not.

Standards are only useful when they are specific. Below is what a positive contribution looks like in practice, and what falls outside it.

Behaviour that helps us thrive.

Speak with Respect

Disagree with ideas, not with people. Assume good faith, and phrase feedback in a way you would be comfortable receiving yourself.

Welcome Different Views

Isoratif is read by makers, collectors, and newcomers alike. Different levels of experience and different opinions are expected, not a problem to correct.

Give Credit

When referencing another person, article, or piece of work, credit it plainly. Do not present someone else’s idea, image, or writing as your own.

Own Your Mistakes

Everyone gets something wrong occasionally. Acknowledging a mistake and correcting it is worth more than defending it.

Focus on the Community

Keep comments and contributions relevant to the piece or discussion at hand, and considerate of the people who will read them after you.

Behaviour that will not be tolerated.

Harassment

Insults, personal attacks, sustained disruption, or unwelcome attention directed at another person, whether in comments, replies, or private messages sent through the platform.

Discriminatory Language

Content that demeans a person or group on the basis of age, body, disability, ethnicity, gender identity or expression, nationality, religion, or sexual orientation.

Explicit or Violent Content

Sexually explicit material, graphic violence, or content whose primary purpose is to shock or disturb.

Impersonation & Misinformation

Posing as another person or organisation, or knowingly sharing false claims about our products, our team, or another member of the community.

Spam & Manipulation

Unsolicited advertising, repeated off-topic posting, vote or engagement manipulation, and automated posting that is not clearly disclosed as such.

Doxxing

Publishing another person’s private information, including address, contact details, or identity, without their explicit consent.

This list is illustrative, not exhaustive. Content that is clearly hostile or harmful in intent may be actioned even if it is not named explicitly above.

Scope & Responsibility

This applies everywhere we host conversation.

This Code of Conduct applies within all spaces we manage, including article and newspaper comment threads on Publications, replies posted under a guest name, and direct correspondence sent through our contact and help-desk channels. It also applies when someone represents Isoratif publicly, for example when posting on our behalf on social media or at an event.
Community moderators are responsible for clarifying and enforcing these standards, and will take fair and appropriate corrective action in response to anything they deem inappropriate, threatening, offensive, or harmful. Moderators have the right to remove, edit, or reject comments, replies, and other contributions that do not align with this Code of Conduct, and to explain the reason for a moderation decision when appropriate.

This applies equally to signed-in members and to guest visitors leaving a comment without an account.

Reporting & Enforcement

Reports are handled promptly, and in confidence.

If you experience or witness a violation of this Code of Conduct, write to us at [email protected]. All reports are reviewed and investigated promptly and fairly, and every reporter’s identity is kept confidential in relation to the report.

How we respond, in proportion to the issue.

1. Correction

For a first, minor issue, we may simply remove or edit the content and leave a private note explaining why. No public record is kept.

2. Warning

For a clearer violation, we issue a formal warning, remove the content, and record the incident against the account. Repeating the behaviour escalates the response.

3. Temporary Restriction

For repeated or more serious violations, commenting and interaction privileges are suspended for a defined period, communicated to the account holder where possible.

4. Permanent Removal

For severe, sustained, or unrepentant violations, including harassment, doxxing, or explicit content, the account is permanently barred from further interaction on the platform.

Moderators and staff who do not follow or enforce this Code of Conduct in good faith may face consequences as determined by other members of Isoratif’s leadership.

This Code of Conduct is adapted from the Contributor Covenant, version 2.1, and informed by the community guidelines published at dev.to/code-of-conduct.
